The Autumn Equinox: Finding Your Balance Point

Hello my loves,

I trust that all is well with you today. 🌙

The season is turning, and I can feel it in my bones the way you feel a change in the air before the first cool morning arrives. On September 22 we meet the Autumn Equinox, one of only two days each year when day and night stand in almost perfect balance.

What is the equinox, really?

The equinox is a doorway between seasons. The light and the dark share the sky equally, and then the scales tip gently toward the long nights of autumn and winter. People have marked this moment for thousands of years with harvest gatherings, gratitude, and quiet reflection.

In Grounded Magic, I think of it as a pause on the seesaw. For one day, nothing is pulling harder than anything else. It is a beautiful invitation to ask yourself: where in my life am I out of balance, and what would it feel like to come back to center?

Balance is not perfection

Let me say this plainly, because so many of us carry the idea that balance means doing everything equally well. It does not. Balance is not a spotless calendar or a perfectly even life. Balance is listening. It is noticing when you have been giving too much and taking too little, and letting yourself adjust.

Some seasons ask you to push. Some ask you to rest. The wisdom is in knowing the difference, and forgiving yourself on the days you get it wrong.

A ten-minute equinox ritual

You do not need fancy tools, beautiful soul. Grounded Magic is simple on purpose. Here is a gentle practice you can do on the equinox, or any day this week:

  1. Ground first. Stand or sit with your feet on the floor, or better yet, on the earth. Take three slow breaths and feel your weight being held.
  2. Light one candle if you like, to honor the light. Let its glow remind you that you carry your own.
  3. Write two short lists. On one side, what you are ready to release as the light softens: an old worry, a habit, a story that no longer fits. On the other, what you want to harvest: what you have grown, learned, or survived this year.
  4. Read your harvest list out loud. Let yourself feel proud. You have done more than you give yourself credit for.
  5. Release the other list. Tear it up, or safely burn it, and say, "I lay this down with love."
  6. Close with gratitude. Place your hands over your heart and thank yourself for showing up.

If your body or energy makes any part of this too much, skip it. Lighting a candle and taking three breaths is more than enough. Your gentleness is part of the magic.

A tarot question to sit with

If you have a deck, pull one card and ask: "Where am I being invited to find my balance right now?" Do not rush to interpret it. Let it sit with you for a day and notice what it stirs up.

A little note from my heart

If this season has felt heavy, you are not behind. You are simply standing at the threshold, and thresholds are meant to be crossed slowly.

And if you would like a guide to walk beside you as the season turns, Spirit and I are here, through a private reading in the Reading Room or inside our Sanctuary.

Until next time, rest softly, dream boldly, and keep making your magic.

With all my love and light,
Miss Mac 💗🌙✨
